Florin Road Fun

September 2012 will be a busy – and fun – month in our district!
Join us on Sunday, September 2 for the 2nd Annual Family First Show-N-Shine Car/Bike/Motorcycle Show at Southgate Plaza (Florin Road and Franklin Boulevard, Sacramento).  This FREE family-friendly event will feature a live DJ, kids’ fun zone, Aztec dancers, vendors, raffle, and of course, all those cool cars, bikes, and motorcycles.
The show is from 11 am to 5 pm.  The car entry is from 7 am to 11 am.  The fee to enter a car in the show is $20, with a portion of the proceeds going to local non-profit organizations.

The following weekend is the Big Fair in Little Saigon on Saturday, September 8 and Sunday, September 9.  This event takes place from 9 am to 9 pm both days at the corner of Stockton Boulevard and Florin Road.  It’s hosted by the Greater Sacramento Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce (GSVACC).  Carnival rides, bounce houses, exhibits, food vendors, and a beer garden are just some of the fun awaiting you.  For more information, visit www.gsvacc.org, email contact@gsvacc.org, or call 916-627-5165 or 916-213-5831.

Our affiliate, the Florin Road Foundation, is holding their 10th Annual Beach Blanket Bingo fundraiser on Thursday, September 27 at Florin Road Bingo (2350 Florin Road, Sacramento).  Doors open at 5:30 pm, with the event running from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
This event is rapidly selling out with a special BOGO for BINGO deal available only through August 31!  A limited number of tickets will be sold at the door on a first come-first serve basis for $50.00 per person.

All admissions include a BBQ Tri-tip and Thai Chicken dinner by Hannibal’s Catering, dessert, nonalcoholic beverages, goody bag, door prize entry, and cards and daubers for 8 bingo games.  There are over $3,000 in bingo, raffle, and door prizes!  All guests must be at least 18 years old.  The cash bar staffed by The Bolt Bar is open to guests ages 21+, with beer, wine and spirits available for $3 to $6 per serving.
Last year’s celebrity emcee Richard T. Jennings II returns again to call the games.  Rick is the CEO of The Center for Fathers and Families and the Oakland Raiders Super Bowl XI Champion.  Proceeds from this event benefit K-12 schools and nonprofits in the South Sacramento community.  For more information, visit http://www.florinroad.com/events/080512BingoFlyer.pdf
